Ron Smith is the CEO of Smith Enterprises, a firearms manufacturing company headquartered in Tempe, Arizona. His company is mostly known for making flash suppressors, which is a gun accessory designed to lessen the flash when firing so that the shooter will not be blinded by it, especially during low light conditions. Aside from making flash suppressors, the company also makes sound suppressors and muzzle brakes. The company’s most well-known product is the Vortex Flash Hider, which can be used for a variety of firearms.

Before becoming a firearms innovator, Smith joined the US Army as well as the Marine Corps and served for 16 years. While serving in Korea, he became equipped and certified to become the section chief of an M109 Howitzer.

He inherited Smith Enterprises from his father, Richard Smith. Aside from becoming the first to come up with a flash suppressor, Smith also made several upgrades to the M-14 rifle. Aside from the M-14, he also designed the Crazy Horse rifle, which is modelled after the M-14, and is designed to be a more cost-effective version of it. This particular rifle is currently being used by the Army’s 2nd Infantry Division.
