Nikki Haley is the current Republican governor of South Carolina seeking re-election. Her first term is about to end in January of 2015. She is the first American-Indian governor in her state, and the second American-Indian governor in the US. She believes that immigration policies should be strictly enforced, is pro-life and has consistently voted for bills that are against abortion. Her economic policies support lower or unregulated taxes to small businesses to improve the business climate in her state and as a result, create more job opportunities for her constituents. Among the other issues she has worked on are policies for pension, Medicaid, and illegal immigration reforms.
Nikki Haley supports the right to bear arms, and believes that every American should be able to do so.
She believes that any action from the government that undermines this right is in violation of the Second Amendment of the Constitution, and she has been vocal about fighting any government initiatives that will impinge on this right. She is known to have a concealed weapons permit, and has consistently voted against efforts that make it difficult to have one.
According to a report by New York Time’s Nate Silver, Haley is ranked as the 21st most conservative governor in the country.
