M1A is a civilian firearm introduced by Springfield Armory, Inc. in 1974.
M1A is a semi-automatic civilian version of the M14 rifle. Its cost is $2000 only for a standard model. It already has some ten variants. M1A has medium to heavy weight versions weighing 7.8-11.6 pounds without magazines. The lengths are from 37.25-44.33 inches with the barrel lengths varying from 16-22 inches. It uses 7.62×51mm NATO and .308 Winchester calibers. It has rotating bolt and has-operated action mode and its feed systems are 5, 10 and 20 round double column (special) detachable box magazine.
Elmer C. Ballance designed it in 1974. The firearm is then manufactured by Springfield Armory, Inc. in the United States. It’s an integrated rifle containing the special features of M1 rifle, M1 Carbine, M3 Grease Gun and M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle. It is designed to replace them all. M21 Tactical and M25 white Feather are M1A’s variants manufactured by the same manufacturing company.
Army of the United States has used it for a while. But federal assault weapon was banned in 1994 and California assault weapons were banned in 2000. This two ban impeded the further use of this fierce firearm. Banning has stopped the legal use of such guns, but has increased the illegal use of them. No industry would like to dumb their products when it’s a weapon industry, we know.
