Tag: M110
It’s a high performance modern firearm serving the U.S. army. A finer version is soon expected from the manufacturer as well.
It’s a Sniper (semi-automatic) rifle. It’s a heavy rifle weights 6.94 kg. M110 is 40.5 inch long with a barrel of 20 inch length. It fires with 7.62×51mm NATO cartridges and can penetrate through its target within 800 meters (875 yd.). It’s rotating bolt, gas-operated action and the total mechanism make its muzzle rate 783m/s.
It is designed in 2007, originated in the United States of America (actually from AR-10 by Eugene Stoner). Its manufacturer is Knight’s Armament Company. In 2009 NRA-legal US added M110 to the service rifles under the NRA High Power Rifle Rules (rule 3.1.6). The U.S army has requested for a modified version of M110 into a CSASS (Compact Semi-Automatic Sniper System). It will be shorter and lighter version with the same working performance capacity. The modification is already in its processing.
M110 is in service since 2008 to present. It was used in the War in Afghanistan and in the Iraq War successfully. The rifle very specially designed for military uses, and it’s doing its job in the U.S. arm forces already (if not among the terrorist gangs too, illegally).
