Colt Firearms (formally known as Colt’s Manufacturing Company or Colt Defense) is a large gun manufacturing company that was started by Sam Colt in 1836 when he had his first invention patented. The Colt handgun was a revelation to the whole world, as a valuable firearm that did not need continuous reloading was finally invented.

With the invention of the handgun that boasts of a revolving cylinder which held up to six bullets, Sam Colt helped the gun industry take a leap. Not surprisingly, Colt became the leading firearm manufacturer at the time, and held an astonishing reputation that reached far beyond the United States.

Today, Colt Firearms has its factories in Hartford, Connecticut, and Kitchener, Ontario, where the company had been manufacturing different firearms throughout the years. These firearms include all Colt arms, such as their rifles, revolvers, and pistols. The company also produces military firearms, such as M4 and M16A1 rifles. At the same time, it is still offering new and innovative products, which include the New Agent DAO and the Colt Rail Gun. The veteran company that helped the United States leap bounds in the firearm industry is still one of the most well known firearms companies to date.
